Sketch # 82 Part 2 is up at Sketches in Thyme!!

I really have been quiet on the blog front, haven't I?!? We have been super busy around these parts, and spent a long weekend up in Bloemfontein this past weekend. Our oldest son Caide played in a big hockey tournament there, representing the KZN Inlands B team. It was an amazing weekend for all of us. We watched some super exciting hockey games, spent time with lovely friends, saw a new part of the country, experienced some very cold weather, watched our first 3D movie and just had an awesome time!! Here is a photo of Caide and his 2 friends from Uelzen who also made the team:

So.... back to business shall we!

Here is the layout I created for Sketch # 82 Part 2 for Sketches in Thyme. I LOVE the way this page turned out, it is a bright, fun and happy page :)

And there is the sketch I based my layout on, it's a double pager which I adapted to a single page.

So, what do you think?? Fun sketch hey!! Why don't you come and play along with us?? You have until the end of the month to create your layout, so a few days to go!! When you have put your layout together, link it at the Sketches in Thyme blog. It's been a short week for us, can't believe it's Friday tomorrow already. I am looking forward to spending some quiet time at home at my craft desk. What have you got planned?

Challenge # 6 - Color Combo at Scrap Africa

It's Thursday, and that means it's time for another fresh challenge over at Scrap Africa. It's a fun one I tell ya, read on!!

Together with this challenge we want you to learn a little bit of geography ;-)
How many of you actually know how does South African flag look like?
If you didn't know before now you will know!
Here it is:

Colorful, isn't it? But we think that it is pretty inspiring as well!
So here is the challenge for you:
use at least 3 colors featured on the flag in your project.
You can use: black, white, red, green, blue or yellow.
Additionally you can add grey, cream of beige.
No other color can be used!
The colors on your photographs are not taken into account -
it doesn't count towards the minimum 3 and it can be any color.
Another thing to make it clear:
you are not required to use precise colors as it is on the flag but! -
green must be green and blue must be blue.
It should be yellow and not orange, and it should be red and not pink.

Do you want to see what I came up with for this challenge??? Sure you do!!! :)

I used the colors red, yellow and black for my page. This layout is all about the Talana Museum which is just around the corner from us. It is an AMAZING place, the historical memorabilia on show is absolutely jaw-dropping amazing. It really is a world class museum, and is a must see for visitors to our town!

A fun layout for two challenges!!

I haven't scrapbooked for fun in a while, most of the pages I do are for DT assignments, so yesterday afternoon (while I was in the scrapping groove), I decided to just play, and put together this fun layout of some photos of Jamie at the Newcastle Show. He really had a ball!!!

The patterned paper I used on this layout is from the Life of the Party range by Basic Grey, perfect for these fun colorful photos, I think. The chipboard letters are some I have had in my stash for AGES and are by Rusty Pickle, and the other green letter are by American Crafts.

I am going to enter this layout in a challenge over at 2Peas which was posted by Wilna (an ex-South African girl, she has the most gorgeous blog), and she scraps like a dream. The challenge was to use a garland on your page, you can find the details HERE.

I also based my layout on a sketch from Scrapbook Challenges, I was on the DT there for a couple of terms a while back. I LOVED this sketch by Brynn, and rotated it to suit my landscape photos.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have enjoyed your time here, and are in some way inspired!

My Color Affection

I have another FO to share with you today, I am over the moon with this one. I am one of thousands of people who have knit this pattern, it is extremely popular over at Ravelry!! The link to the actual pattern can be found HERE, as I type this 3494 people have linked their Color Affections on Ravelry!

I used one 100g ball of each color to knit this pattern. I just made it with the main color blue, but still had a bit left over of the brown and lilac colors.

So, here it is. Once again photographed by my son Bryce :)

I have worn this loads since finishing it, and will be knitting another one soon, it is such a wearable item. This week I wore it as a scarf and it looked lovely!!

Once again I will be linking up with Linda's Creative Friday as well as FO Fridays.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! :) I see some rugby watching and knitting on the cards for me!

Sketch # 81 is up at Sketches in Thyme :)

So it's Thursday, and that means the latest sketch is up at Sketches in Thyme. I must say I am LOVING my scrapping right now, and I have been getting ahead in most of my DT assignments, always a good feeling!

So here is my latest layout for Sketches in Thyme:

I love the way this layout turned out, and it's going to be a very special one for my son Caide to look back on. He has had a great hockey season, he was Captain of his team, and after trials at Treverton he was chosen for the Inland's B team. Next weekend we are all trekking up to Bloemfontein for the big tournament he and 3 of this other team-mates are playing in. I think it's going to be a fun adventure for all of us! Needless to say I think you may be seeing some more hockey layouts in the future :)

I used some lovely FabScraps products on this layout. The red paper and title are both FabScraps products, which is a lovely South African company! The circle stamps are by Hero Arts and the border stamp is by AnnaBelle Stamps.

Here is the the fun sketch I based my page on.

The sponsor for this challenge is Peace, Love & Scrapbooking, they are offering up a lovely prize for one randomly selected person who participates in one of our June challenges.

So.....please come and play along with us, you have until the end of June to put together your fabby creation, and when done link it up HERE!

See you soon my crafty friends!!
