Simon Says Blog Challenge

Hello everyone. Hope you are having a good Wednesday, half way through the work week already.

Today's card is based on a Sketch Challenge that was over at Simon Says. I really enjoyed doing this one, the sketch was fun, and my card came together so easily! The image I used is a local one available from a company called Janel Stamps. I didn't note the Copics I used, but I am going to try and do that in the future. I have added a link in my sidebar to the Simon Says Challenge Blog, so hop on over an have a look, the challenges are loads of fun!!

AMYRS5 - Amy's Friday Sketch

Wow, 2 posts in one day, and it being a Monday nogaal! I love taking part in Amy's Friday Sketch, hers are some of my favourite sketches, always so much fun and easy to adapt my cards to.

Anyway, as I wasn't here over the weekend, I decided to take part today. I had just enough time to colour one image over the weekend, and made a card with it this afternoon.

Here is the sketch:

And my card and close-up:

Oh, I love being creative!!

My first Copics Card

Hello everyone, hope you are all having a good start to the week! Monday's are not my best days, especially when I have been away the previous weekend! I have had tons of washing to do, blogging to catch up on, and then Monday morning gym is always quite an effort!!

Needless to say, today will be a short post! I just wanted to load a photo of my first Copics coloured card. This image was stamped for me by my friend Paola, and is just gorgeous. This was the first time I actually tried to colour an image according to the p.p. I was going to use on the card, I found it a bit more difficult than just colouring as I went along, but I enjoyed the challenge.

Anyway, here is a photo and close-up of my card. I am hoping to spend some good quality time playing with my Copics this week. For me there are just not enough hours in a day!!

Have a lovely week!

I'm in Love - with my new Copics!!

Well, my birthday has come and gone, and I am finally in possession on my precious new Copics!! I must admit, it was worth the wait. I am in my absolute element! I spent a few hours playing with them yesterday, and must admit, they aren't the easiest things to work with! After playing and trying different colour combos together, I did start to be a bit more comfortable with them.

I just wanted to share the little girl I coloured yesterday, this is mainly for the RSA girls who have been going through my Copic journey with me. A special thanks to Paolo for stamping this image for me!

Hope you are having a lovely week!

TECC74 - Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge

I was busy putting this card together, and while blog hopping I came across Taylor's website. So I thought why not change it around slightly to adapt it to her sketch.

One thing I did realise while creating this card, is that I am not a big "yellow" fan, I really did battle with this color! I was wanting to create a "Get Well Soon" card, and I thought yellow would be a nice bright and cheerful colour to work with, but I must admit I didn't find it a easy color to work with. I am much more comfortable with the blue, beige's & creams and other earth tones!

Anyway, here is Taylor's Sketch. It's a really nice one, and I will without doubt use it again!

And my take on the sketch:

And a closeup of the cute little duckie:

The stamp is one by a South African stamp company called Best Rubber Stamps. I did add a lot more embellishments than was shown on the sketch. But I made it my own! Hope the week ahead is good for you. Only 2 more sleeps until I get my Copics. Yay!!

AMYRS72 - Amy's Friday Sketch

Hello Everyone.

Hope you are having a great weekend so far. Can't believe Saturday is nearly over, anyway, I am enjoying it, getting some cardmaking in!!

Here is the card I created for Amy's Friday Sketch, I had a nice lazy day on Friday, and actually made 2 cards, I will post the other one next week.

Here is Amy's Sketch:

And my take on her sketch:

The stamp is another in the set Woodland Creatures available from SimonSaysStamp.com. This is such a cute set of stamps.

I colored the image with my colored pencils and blended with Grumtine. I can't tell you how excited I am to dive into my Copics. I have been doing so much research, and watching of Tutorials so I have a bit of an idea how to use them. Only 3 sleeps to go!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

A special RAK

I just wanted to post a photo of the RAK I received from my friend Paola. We have only recently got to know each other, but have already become good friends. Paola is the lady who has kindly helped me to get my Copics. Anyway, she sent me this card, which she coloured with her Copics, and she has really inspired me!!

Needless to say I am DYING for the 21st to arrive!!

I made a makeshift light box yesterday, and went and bought a desk lamp, to try and improve the quality of my photos for my blog. I took this photo in the box. So today I am going to experiment with it, and see how I can take the best photos of my cards!

Hope you are having a good week!

A Simon Says Challenge

I was browsing the Simon Says Blog and I came across their Paper Piecing Challenge, and thought it would be fun to play along. Paper Piecing isn't something I do too often, but when I have done it, I have had fun! (Hope I am not too late to post my card?!?)

Anyway, here is my card:

And a close-up of the cute little angel and her friend:

I paper pieced the 2 little ribbons in her hair and the piece of material that is wrapped around her waist. Simple but effective!

Hope you are having a good week so far. I have done 3 challenges in 3 days, so think I will give the challenges a break for the rest of the week!

Challenges are Cool!

So now I get the enthusiasm about doing challenges, it's quite addictive
when you get into it.

Today I have decided to take part int the Sketch Challenge that is up on Jen Del Muro's site i{heart}2stamp. I have always enjoyed her cards, and when I visited her site and came across her awesome sketch I had to give it a go!! This is her sketch:

Here is my take on the sketch:

And a close up of the cute little critter:

Don't you think the little image is adorable?!? It is from a stamp set available from SimonSaysStamp.com and is from the Woodland Creatures set. The set also includes a very cute owl, bunny, birdie and turtle as well as a few sentiments. Simon Says also has a huge range of other products and it is worth visiting their site. If you click on the Simon Says link in the sidebar, it will take you to their site.

Hope the week has started out well for you!

I'm Back!!

After I rather long absence from blogging, I have decided to get back on the saddle!! I have once again been bitten by the cardmaking and stamping bug, and have been making cards like there is no tomorrow! I have also decided to try and get more involved with other sites, and to do challenges etc. I am also SOOOOO very excited. My birthday is on the 21st of this month and I am going to be getting about 42 Copics Markers. I have been doing a lot of research, and truly believe this is the way to go. So I am counting sleeps until then (it's 9 by the way!), so I can get my hands on those little beauties, and then I can play!!

While doing my research I was browsing all the blogs under "My Favourites", and when opening Amy's blog - Prairie Paper & Ink I was over the moon to discover that when doing a post she lists the Copic Markers that she uses, she also does some amazing tutorial videos which are so informative and inspiring. So needless to say, her challenge was the first one I decided to participate in.

She does a Friday Sketch, and I thought this would be a perfect way for me to get started with a Challenge. Here is her sketch:

And here is my take on that sketch:

My card is slightly different, I don't have any oval Nestabilities, so I used a rectangular box for my image instead, otherwise I tried to keep it as close to the sketch as possible! Please (if you haven't already), Amy's site is a must see site!!

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Can't believe it's nearly finished already!
