Find Joy

A friend of mine gave me a fridge magnet for my birthday and the message on this magnet is "True joy is found in the simple pleasures God gives us every day". To me this message is so significant, I try and live each day to the max, and be grateful for all that I have! I know that God has blessed me so richly, and I am truly thankful for that!

I love the sentiment on the card that I am showing today. It is by Hero Arts, I love their stamps! The image is by Great Impressions, another South African based stamp company. I created this card for a Cuttlebug swap we had at RSA. I received some lovely cards back. This is an amazing group of ladies, and I have made lots of friends on-line. Hopefully I will get to meet some of them in person one day!

Enjoy what is left of your weekend. My mom left this morning, and I am missing her SO much. Love you Mom x.

My first Inchies!

Hello everyone.

Hope you all had a great week. Mine was one of my nicest in ages. Having my Mom here has been amazing. We have had a week filled with "quality time", and it has been so much fun. I am going to miss her so much when she goes home tomorrow.

This morning we are heading out to the boy's Bicycle Rally. I am running an 8km run, and then going on a 8km bike ride with Bryce, so I think I might be a bit tired later!!

Today I am sharing the first Inchies I have ever made, they were for a swap I did at RSA. It was a lot of fun. The image I used is one from Hero Arts.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Hopefully SA wins their rugby game this afternoon!

P.S Sorry if the spacing in this post is off, blogger is giving me a bit of a hard time this morning!!

M.I.A

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't blogged in a few days! I have had my family visiting, so my days have been pretty full. Really good times though. My aunt & uncle left on Monday morning, but my Mom is still here and we are having such a lovely time. We scrapped until 10:30pm last night, unheard of for me!!

This morning I am going to post one of my favourite lo's I have ever created for Jamie's album. It was just one of those pages that fell together so easily!!

I will try and post a card later on in the week. Hope you are all having a good one! A Hi to my sis Lauren, who sometimes checks out my blog. Love you.

A card for Kayla

Happy Friday!! I am so excited it's Friday, that means my mom and aunt & uncle are coming to stay tomorrow. I live about 4 hours away from all of my family so I don't get to see them that often, so I really love it when they come to visit. Al & Pam are only staying for the weekend, but my Mom is staying for a week!! I am so looking forward to spending some quality time with her!

The card I created yesterday is one for my cute little niece Kayla. I am going to give it to Pam to take home to her. I am sure she will love it, especially the fact that her name is on the front. For this card I used another of Stamp 'n Stuff's cute teen stamps. This one is No. 805L and as with the others, can be found under the "Teen" section. Just click on their link to go straight to the shop!

This is just a quick, simple card. I had to crop the image again slightly (they are nice big stamps!!), mounted it with my rectangular nestabilities die, used Hero Arts stamps for Kayla's name and a bit of sewing.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. I will be back with another scrapbook layout soon!

Another early morning post!!

Hey all.

Been up since 4:45am this morning!! Jamie really isn't sleeping well at the moment, and I am not sure why!! We keep checking out his mouth cause he is long overdue for some new teeth, but so far nothing. I hope it's not his ear again. His eardrum burst when he was about 8 months old, and we have been having a hard time with his ears since. Apparently it's all unrelated, and it's just something he is going to have to grow out of?!?

So this morning I want to upload another scrapbook lo. This is the one I did of Jamie's 5 month milestones. Don't you think the photo of him squeezing his fat rolls is just the cutest thing, and the one of him sucking his toe is one of my all time favs! By the way, I do also scrapbook the other boys, I just have to get round to scanning some of their pages!

Half way through the week already. I need to get organised because I am having my mom, aunt and uncle to stay this weekend, so I am going to have a full house.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Bookmarks

Happy Sunday. I have been up since 5am this morning. Unfortunately Jamie hasn't mastered the art of sleeping in yet, so I am up at 5 every day of the week. Lucky for me I am a morning person. So hence my very early post today.

Today I want to show you the bookmarks I made using another of the adorable stamps from Stamp 'n Stuff. These were so fun and easy to create, and my boys love them!! They couldn't decide who wanted which one, so I had to put them behind my back and they chose that way. They are now proudly sitting in their books next to their beds. It is so nice when your kids appreciate and love what you create. It makes my heart happy!

The number of the stamp is 802L and it can also be found under the Teen section. Please note that I did crop the stamped image to fit on my nestabilities rectangular die, so IRL the stamped image is actually bigger.

Another Scrapbook Page

I created this lo to simply show how cute Jamie looked in this hat!! I didn't have a cute hat like this one for the other boys, so in this instance, it was something I wanted to remember forever! Isn't he just adorable. I like to use my pp in this way, creating a frame on the page.

Friday already tomorrow. Wow! Caide has his athletics meet at school tomorrow, so I will be busy watching that in the morning. Will post the bookmarks I made with another Stamp 'n Stuff stamp in the afternoon. See you then.

My first non-card stamping Item

Happy Wednesday to you all. Half way through the week already! It's another gorgeous day here today, warm and bright. I can almost smell summer on it's way...

Today I am sharing an address book I created with another really cool stamp from Stamp 'n Stuff. I wanted to try and create something different for a change. These stamps are perfect for teenage or pre-teen creations. I made this cover for an address book, but you could use it for a journal or just a notebook. The possibilities are endless. There are 2 other stamps in this range that are equally cute. My boys have asked me to make them a bookmark each with one of the other stamps, so that's next on my agenda! This stamp is no. 804L and is R22.00. It's a nice big stamp, so really good value. Go and have a look at the Stamp 'n Stuff website. You will find these stamps under the "Teen" section.

A Scrapbook Page!

2 posts in 2 days. Wow! As I mentioned yesterday, I have decided to post some of my scrapbook pages as well as cards. Scrapbooking was my first love, and will always be, I think! With this hobby I can at least justify the time I spend on it, because I am creating lasting memories for my kids and our family!

This was a page I created for Jamie's album. It was a little different to my usual style, but I loved it nonetheless!

Hope you have a great Tuesday, it's a gorgeous day here in Northern KZN. I went for about a 9km run this morning, and it was so warm out. Lovely!

Hugs, Rene'

Umbrella Card

Hello all of you ladies out there. Hope you all had a fantastic weekend, and got lots of creative things done. I did!! I finished 19 recipe cards for my RSA swap, created a card for Stamp 'n Stuff and did a lovely scrapbook page of my gorgeous guys. I think I am going to also feature some scrapbook pages in the future. So look out for that.

Anyway, the card I created this weekend was my first attempt at paper piecing, and I must admit I really enjoyed it. It was a pretty straight forward project for me to start with, but at least I now have got the idea!

The stamp I used is by Stamp 'n Stuff and is No. 160J and you will find it under the General category and it is only R18.00. This is a simple but very versatile stamp, and I look forward to using it in lots of different ways.

Hero Arts Thank-you Cards

Just a quick post while Jamie is having his morning nap. Wow, I thought last week flew, this one has passed even quicker!

As you know, it was my birthday a few weeks ago. A week after my birthday I had a birthday tea with 7 of my girl friends. I got some lovely little gifts, and of course then had to make some special thank-you cards, to thank my special friends.

I have admired this little birdie stamp from Hero Arts for a while, so I was so happy to finally get it with my birthday stash. As you may know, there are normally 3 birds on the stamp, but the size I needed could only fit 2, so I covered up the smallest little birdie. The sentiment is also by Hero Arts.

I love beige/brown & blue together, it is one of my favourite colour combos. These cards came together so nicely, and I really enjoyed putting them together. I used my Swiss Dots embossing folder and a bit of stitching, which I think always finishes off a card. The ribbon is some I got at a flea market for a bargain, just wish I had bought more!!

I will hopefully post again this weekend. I am busy with a card using a lovely umbrella stamp from Stamp 'n Stuff. I am trying my hand at paper piecing.

Speak to you soon!
