Back to School at Simon Says

Hello to my blog readers. Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Ours was busy but nice. Caide did really well with his athletics and achieved a 5th place in his Shot Put. I had a really nice time with my family and managed to spend some quality time with my sis Kim, so that was great!

The challenge over at Simon Says this past week, is back to school. I made a few “Good Luck for the Exams” cards to go in Angella’s shop. For those of you who don’t speak Afrikaans, that’s what the sentiment translates to!

The image is another one that Poala stamped for me, and I absolutely LOVE this image! She was such a pleasure to stamp!

Anyhow, here is my card and close-up:

I don’t know when I will post again. Hubby is taking my computer into the shop. I think I have a virus or something, because I am running out of bandwidth every month! Don’t know how I am going to cope without my blog hopping and having my computer at the ready. Hope the computer people fix the problem quickly.

Have a great week everyone!

Taylor's Sketch - TESC79

Hello! A bit of a chilly day here in Dundee today. Weather can't seem to make up it's mind!!

The card I am posting today is based on last Friday's sketch over at Taylored Expressions. Another lovely sketch to work with! Still a bit of a purple phase going on here, sorry about that. The stamp I used is another South African stamp, and this is the first time I inked it up with my Copics, and I am SO happy with the way it turned out. I really do love my Copics! This stamp can be bought at Stamp 'n Stuff here in South Africa. If you click on their link in my side bar it will take you to their online shop. As far as I know (I may be wrong) it is the only online shop that sells stamps only, and they have quite a large range. So hop on over and have a look. If you are an overseas visitor, the Rand/Dollar exchange rate would allow you to buy lots of stamps, for a really cheap price!

Here is the sketch and my take on it.

The Copics I used are: E00, E11, E31, E33; RV10, R20; BV00, G00; YG23; YR20, YR23, Y21.

We are off to Durban tomorrow. My eldest son is taking part in athletics at Kings Park. We are then travelling down to Pennington to spend the weekend with my Mom and family. Can't wait to see them! I will see you all next week.

Lazy Days of Summer

Morning! Sorry I didn't post over the weekend. Life just got in the way!! My middle boy Bryce has been unwell since Sunday. I took him to the doctor yesterday and he has been diagnosed with a viral throat infection and has been booked off school until Thursday!!

So anyway, just a quick post this morning. The card I am posting today is one I made to take part in the Cute Card Thursday challenge which is "Lazy Days of Summer". I also wanted this to be part of the "friendship" challenge over at the Magnolia blog, but I was a week too late. DAH!!

Orange is a lovely summery colour, so that's why I chose it as the base colour for my card. I really enjoyed colouring my beautiful Magnolia in these summery colours. I have been making a lot of cards lately, a friend of mine is opening a shop here in Dundee on Saturday, and I am going to be putting some of my cards in her shop. Needless to say, I have been feeling the pressure a bit this month to make enough "stock". This card I made just cause I wanted to, and I enjoyed the therapeutic feeling I felt while making it. Anyway, enough of the waffle. Here is my card and closeup!!

The Copics I used are: E00, E11, E21, E31, E33, E35, E37; YR02, YR20, YR23, YR68; R02, R20; Y38; BG10, G07, G21.

I also wanted to say a big thank-you to those that leave comments. It really makes this blogging thing so much more fun!!

AMYRS73 & Simon Says Challenge

Hello everyone. Another busy week here in Dundee! Can’t believe it’s already Friday, the kids have been SO busy at school this week, so for all of our sakes I am glad it’s over! 2 days of relaxing ahead, Yahoo!

The card I am posting today qualifies for 2 challenges. I based the card on Amy’s Friday Sketch, and the theme is based on the challenge over at Simon Says – Christmas in August. What the Simon Says Challenge made me realise is that I am DESPERATELY short of Christmas themed stamps!!! I have about 5 Christmas stamps, but only 1 Christmas sentiment. Needless to say, the sentiment I have used on this card is a touch on the big side. Sorry!! It’s the only one I have. LOL. I had better remedy the situation soon, cause Christmas is just around the corner.

Anyway, here is Amy’s Sketch:

And my card & closeup:

The stamp I used is from a South African company called Best Rubber Stamps. I am not too sure if the company is still running though. The pp is Basic Grey, and the Copics I used are : E00, E11, E21, E31, E33, E51; W3; R20, R46; G21, G99; YR23, BG10. For those that are new to Copics, the YR23 is a great colour to use as Gold. I also added a bit of gold glitter to the cute angels wings.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great weekend. I am hoping to make a card for the Cute Card Thursday challenge over the weekend, so hop on by to check it out if you get a chance!

TESC78 & Cute Card Thursday

Hello everyone.

Sorry I have been a bit scarce over the last few days, life has been a bit hectic, and I have been having a few problems with my computer. I think my very clever husband has sorted it out though, so hopefully I am now back on track!!

The card I am posting today is one I am linking to two challenges. The first is the one over at Taylored Expressions. I have altered the sketch very slightly by putting a circle on the right hand side instead of the skew square. This is an awesome sketch and I know for sure I will use it again and again. Taylor always has such gorgeous sketches!!

I am also linking this card to the challenge over at Cute Card Thursday. The challenge is to make a beach themed card. Unfortunately I don't have a beach themed stamp, so I used this one, that is of a boy on a boat at sea, and hope they won't mind!!

I battled terribly to photograph this card for some reason, but anyway, here goes:

The Copics I used are: E00, E11, E21, E31, E33, E35, E51; W3, W5; G00, G21; Y21, YR23; B23, B24, B93, BG01, BG10; R20.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi There!

Morning everyone!

It seems I have been bitten by the purple bug lately. It was always a colour I battled to work with, but since teaming it with yellow (as in the card I posted in my last post), and with green like in the card I am showing you today, I am loving it!! So I guess I have gotten over my purple block.

I LOVED making this card, it was just one of those that came together so easily, and then I just wanted to keep looking at it afterwards. I love that feeling.

I haven't taken part in many challenges this week, but I am thinking of trying the sketch that they have over at Just Magnolia. Lets see if I find the time!

Without further ado, here is my card and close-up.

The Copics I used are E00, E11, E21, E31, E33, E35, E37; W3, W5; BV00, V17; R20; B23, B93; G00, G02, G21; 100.

Happy day to you all!

New Colour Combo & Card Size

Hi All.

Just a really quick post today, didn't get round to posting this morning, and of course afternoon time is rather hectic in this household!

This is a card I made last week. The image is another one that Paola so kindly stamped for me. She is such a sweetie! I have never used yellow & purple together, but when I stood back and looked at this card I loved it!!! It's also a long card, which I don't do often at all, but I found it was actually a really nice size to work with. Anyway....

Hope you are all having a fab week so far, it's hot as heck here in Dundee today!

Taylor's Sketch - TESC77

Hello everyone from a gorgeous & beautiful day here in Dundee. We had lunch outside today, and I was saying to my family that it almost felt like summer!! According to the weatherman we are also due for a lovely and hot week next week, so I wander if winter is at an end!!

The card I am showing you today is based on Taylor’s sketch TESC77 from her blog Taylored Expressions. I have adjusted my card slightly, I decided to make quite a big card for this one, A5 size, so the proportions are slightly different to that of the sketch, but I tried to stick to it as much as possible. I added some black buttons to the right hand corner of the card because there was just too much empty space there for my liking! I bought this gorgeous Basic Grey paper from Newcastle yesterday, and I just love the black & orange colour combo, so coloured my image accordingly. The stamp is one of my new Sarah Kay images, which I got from 7Kids College Fund. Isn’t she just too cute!! The wording is by Hero Arts.

Anyway, here is the sketch:

And my card and usual close-up:

The Copics I used are: E00, E11, E31, E33, E35, E37; W3, W5; YR02, YR20, YR23, YR68; R20, R46; G21.

It’s Woman’s Day here in South Africa today, so just wanted to wish all my South African friends a very happy day. Hope you have all had a wonderful day with family & friends. I am really looking forward to having another day off tomorrow!!

Simon Says Challenge & Awesome Giveaway!

Yay, yay it’s Friday!! And what makes the weekend ahead even better is that it’s 3 days long. Yahoooo! We are off to Newcastle tomorrow to do a bit of shopping, I need to stock up on some supplies, Church on Sunday and then chillin’ for the rest of the time. I do have a date with the T.V. when the Springboks take on the Australians though!

I just wanted to let you all know about the awesome giveaway that is on the go over at Simon Says. They are giving away $100 worth of new products from CHA. What an amazing prize to win! I have already entered, you should too!! If you click on the Simon Says link in my side bar, it will take you right there. I have had some dealings with Heidi & Heather from Simon Says and they are the sweetest gals out, so please go and enter!

The card I am posting today qualifies for 2 challenges. The weekly challenge over at Simon Says, says that you have to have ribbon & buttons on your card. My card only has 1 button, hope they don’t mind!! The colour scheme I used is Teal & Red, which are the colours that are part of the weekly challenge over at Cute Card Thursday.

Here is my card and close-up photo:

Look at this cute little boy!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Wow, it's been a busy week! The boys have had such a full week at school. Yesterday they had athletics after school to make up what we didn't finish over the weekend, tomorrow Caide has a big history test and then on Friday he has Entrepenuers day. So I am rushing around getting his goodies together, making posters, getting change and tomorrow I will be baking 24 cupcakes! So lets hope I get some stamping time in!!

The card I am posting today is based on the Saturday sketch from Jen Del Muro's site. She also always has lovely sketches, and this one I thought was perfect for a kid's card. The image I used is a gorgeous little boy which was given away as a free printable over at The Greeting Farm's Blog over the weekend. I was so lucky to pass by there, and download this image. I love all their stamps, and hope to add a few to my collection soon. The sentiment and stars were stamped from 2 of my Hero Arts sets.

Anway, moving on, here is the sketch:

A new challenge for me

Hello all. Another week begins, wow, this year is flying by!! The card I am posting today is one I designed around the sketch over at Lauren Meader's blog. When I saw the sketch and the adorable card she created based on the sketch I knew I had to take part. The Magnolia image I used is another sent to me by my friend Paola. She is actually having an op tomorrow, so I want to wish her luck, and to let her know I will be thinking of her!!

This is the sketch:

My first Magnolia Card & 3 Challenges

Morning everyone. It is a miserable, cold & rainy day here in Dundee today. Perfect for being inside and being crafty. I got 2 parcels in the post yesterday, one from my very sweet friend Paola, and the other my birthday parcel from 7Kids. So needless to say I have loads of new stamps & images to create with. Wonderful!!

The card I am posting today, actually qualifies for 3 challenges!! The layout is based on the Friday Sketch over at Prairie Paper & Ink, and as is the norm it is a lovely sketch. I am also going to post this card over at the Simon Says & Magnolia Sites, both of them had Distressing as their challenges for the week. I used Tim Holtz distress ink to age & distress the background of the card, and I also inked the edges of the beige cuttlebugged piece on the card. I used one of the images Paola so generously stamped for me.

Here is the sketch:

And my card & close-up:

Hope you are all cozy, warm & being crafty!
