The pattern I used is the Avignon Picnic pattern which I uploaded from the Moda Bake Shop (their link is in my side-bar!). I can't say it was the perfect first timer pattern with lots of cutting and piecing involved, but I am a "go big or go home" kind of person. I used a lovely Moda fabric Jelly Roll and just used some basic calico for the cream fabric. Here are some pics of my quilt.
